Field Scenario
A vendor wants to list an accessory that closely imitates a well-known branded product but is not the authentic item, planning to describe it only as “compatible style.”
What You Actually Explain
- The listing must not misrepresent or imply authenticity that doesn’t exist
- Even careful wording doesn’t resolve an underlying intellectual property or authenticity concern
- This kind of listing risks removal or account consequences under Marketplace policy
- Clear, honest labeling as a non-authentic alternative is the compliant approach, if permitted at all
