Why Photography Is Often the Deciding Factor

For an online purchase, photography is often the single biggest factor in a buyer’s confidence — a buyer can’t physically inspect the instrument, so clear, honest photos are effectively their inspection.

Basic Photography Requirements

Effective listing photos need good, even lighting (natural light near a window works well), a clean and uncluttered background, and enough resolution that a buyer can zoom in on details without the image becoming blurry.

Showing Multiple Angles and Any Flaws

A complete photo set shows the product from multiple angles, close-ups of any identifying details (serial numbers, brand markings), and honest close-ups of any wear, damage, or flaws mentioned in the condition description.

What to Avoid

Avoid stock photos that don’t show the actual item being sold, heavily edited or filtered images that misrepresent true color or condition, and photos so poorly lit or blurry that key details aren’t visible.
